Get Your Car Ready For The New Year

2023 is coming to an end. Many of us are making New Year’s resolutions and have plans for the year ahead. How many of us have included our cars in those plans?

Most of us are thinking about what changes we want to make for ourselves in the new year and what goals we are going to achieve. Not many of us even think about our cars in all of these new year plans. Chancey’s wanted to take the time and give some tips on getting your car ready for the new year!

Treat your car to a good deep clean

A good starting point for this is picking up any garbage that might be on the floor and organizing any items that you keep in your vehicle. Take some wipes and scrub down the interior of the doors and handles, the dash board, the heating/ac vents, the steering wheel and all things attached like the blinker, the radio, and try to get into all the little nooks and crannies of your car. Next, take a vacuum and get rid of all the dirt and debris that’s collected over time off of your floor mats. This will make the inside of your car feel new and is a great way to start the year off fresh! After you’ve taken care of the interior, treat your vehicle to a bath! Taking your car to the car wash is a great way to keep that fresh look, prevent rust and erosion, and can even help with gas mileage. If there are parts of your car you don’t feel comfortable cleaning or simply don’t want to clean yourself you can always take it to a professional to be detailed. Having that fresh new car feeling is good for you and your car.

Take your car in for an oil change

Unless you just recently got your oil changed, getting it changed right at the beginning of the new year is a great way to start off. It can even help you get into a routine of knowing about how long you can go before needing another oil change. Be sure to refer to your owners manual to be sure how often your specific vehicle needs an oil change, but a good rule of thumb is every 3,000-7,000 miles.

Take care of the tires

Tires on a vehicle go through a lot of wear and tear; a good thing to pay attention to is the tread on your tires. If you’re unsure of how to tell if the tread on your tires is too worn, take it to a professional who can help determine if you’re in need of new tires. If you’re not in need of new tires, then the next thing you should check is your tire pressure. Making sure your tires are filled to the proper PSI ensures a longer lasting life for your tires and better performance. Lastly, another way to ensure a longer life for your tires is getting them rotated every so often. The front tires tend to wear down quicker than the back tires, so rotating them helps all four tires take on the same wear and tear at an equal pace. Taking care of your tires to start off the New year will make you feel like you’re driving a brand new car!

Add some air fresheners

Once you’ve taken care of the interior and exterior of your car, go out and get yourself some air fresheners. They come in so many different scents, that it should be a breeze to find one that suits you and your car. Having a fresh and clean smell in your car will make your time being in the car that much more enjoyable.

Taking care of not only yourself but your car as well is a great way to kick off the new year!
